UPDATE July 23 2009 - I have cycled for the first time (ie completed 6 sales) gaining me my first $30 commission. 4x1 Fortune is certainly slower going than Work For $3, however the payouts are much higher and the products you get are far superior. (FULL TIMELINE AT THE BOTTOM)
4x1 Fortune is almost identical to EZ 2x2. This is also a 2x2 matrix that requires 6 people to fill. Like EZ 2x2, you get paid once you cycle ie recruit the 6 people, or get spillover to that amount.
However, in EZ 2x2 you don't get very much at all on your first cycle (maybe even nothing), whereas with t4x1 Fortune you get $30 in your first cycle which makes it comparitively better. To be honest it's very difficult to compare EZ 2x2 and 4x1 Fortune because both of their commission payout systems are confusing.
I want to mention, however, that 4x1 Fortune have a huge amount of products that they include with the $11 membership. I have been with them for about 2 months and only recently did I discover this. I initially joined just to see what is was all about and if it was a scam or not, but I have been very impressed with the products they give along with their membership. One product for example sells for $27 on it's own http://www.instantdirectoryprofits.com. That is only one of the MANY very useful extras you get with 4x1 Fortune membership. I normally mock the "products" that these programs give away, but I cannot mock the products you recieve with 4x1 fortune. I was pleasantly surprised and I'm still going through them all and learning a lot from the materials and resources they provide with my $11 membership. If you only spent the $11 for these products Im sure you would feel like you got your money's worth, nevermind the income opportunity along with it.
To compare 4x1 Fortune with the recommended Work For $3 opportunity, 4x1Fortune pays more and has a higher rate of spillover (ie 50% more). So if you are willing to risk $11 instead of $3 then this program is much better, as the pay is higher and so is the spillover. However Work For $3 has the benefit of recieving commissions from your very first referral or spillover, no need to wait until you reach 6.
4x1 Fortune uses your 2nd cycle's commission to re-enter you into a higher paying matrix where the payouts are higher. Your 2nd cycle's $30 commission enters you into the "Silver Level" where each cycle is worth $110. The next level is Gold paying $275 per cycle and finally Platinum paying $550 per cycle.
On ALL matrix levels you won't be paid on your 2nd and 4th cycles. The 2nd cycle enters you into the next higher matrix and the 4th cycle is used to fund the commission payouts. The Platinum 2nd and 4th cycles are BOTH used to fund commission payouts.
So according to my understanding, basically you will be paid after getting 6, 18, 30, 42, 54 (ie every 12 people).

July 25 2009 - I got my first signup after cycling. I am now building my second 4x1 Fortune matrix.
Aug 4 2009 - I got my second signup in my second matrix. 4 more and I will cycle again, but this cycle won't earn me any money as the $30 will fund my placement into the Silver 4x1 Fortune matrix. I'm curious to see what happens in my 3rd cycle.
Aug 11 - Got my 3rd signup in the 2nd matrix. 4x1 Fortune is definitely slower and harder going than Work For $3 however the rewards/commissions are much higher. If I can cycle at the Silver Level soon then my earnings will be the same between the 2 programs. This will be interesting to compare.
Aug 25 - I finally got around to trying out the Instant Directory Profits software that's included when you join 4x1 Fortune and I have to say it's pretty good. It helps speed up the process of getting free back links to your website, which as we all know is crucial to getting better Google search rankings and thereby more free traffic the backbone of any online business. I would even say it's well worth the $27 retail price tag, and a bargain for $11 with 4x1 fortune.
Feb 12 2010 - Just had another sign-up today. That puts me at 10 signups so far. Just 2 more and I will cycle again (no commission for that cycle) and 8 more and I should get paid the $110. I am very curious to see if they actually pay out the $110.
Mar 14 2010 - I just recieved an $11 commssion from 4x1 Fortune. It appears to be what's called a "matching bonus". That means that someone I signed up has cycled themeselves. So they made $30 for that but I also get $11 because I referred them. I never really touched on the matching cycle bonus above because it has nothing to do with you really. Also the website never said how much the bonus was but now I know. So I've made $41 so far from this but $30 profit when you take into account my $11 joining fee. So far I am quite pleased with this simple little program. It certainly pays what it claims to pay.
