Is Affiliano a Scam ?
What exactly is the definition of Scam ? I won't come right out and say Affiliano is a scam, but I certainly do NOT recommend Affiliano because of how shady it is. I read the initial sales page and was intrigued at a program that was "free" to join. But then I realized that Affiliano say you need to host a website in order to be a member. They "recommend" Hostgater and of course the link that you click on is their affiliate link.
I was suspicious that this was just an elaborate scam to get people to join Hostgater and then Affiliano collect their Hostgater affiliate commission. In order to test this theory I sent Affiliano an email telling them I already have hosting with someone else and I would like to use my existing hosting for the Affiliano program. Surprise, surprise here is the reply I received :
The Affiliano Referral Program and free websites are only
compatible with the hosting company HostMonster.
They offer the best hosting solutions for our affiliate
partners website's as all of our partners use the same
hosting provider.
So there you have it. The above email is a complete load of garbage. Only Hostagater is "compatible" with the Affiliano website ? Ridiculous ! Next they will be telling me that I need to buy a new computer from their affiliate link, because only a certain type of computer is "compatible" with Affiliano.
If you REALLY want to be a jerk and expose them further, you could just join Hostgater directly without using the Affiliano affiliate link thereby preventing them from receiving the commission. See how they react to that ! Maybe you would get an email saying that Affiliano is "only compatible" with Hostgater hosting signed up through their affiliate link. Absolutely ridiculous !
Hostgater's affiliate commissions are $65 according to their site. How much do Afilliano pay you out of that ? $2 !
So, if you were thinking of joining Afilliano, you might as well just copy their idea and then make the full $65 yourself. This program isn't really "free" to join as you have no choice but to purchase their affiliated Hostgater package in order to be part of the Affiliano program.
Maybe I should set up a similar program for insurance. You can join my program for "free" but you need to have liability insurance to protect yourself. The only insurance "compatible" with my program is the insurance that gives me a commission. Interested ? Send me an email !
Affiliano can certainly be profitable, there's no doubt about that. I am sure if you joined hostgater through Affiliano, set up their website etc and followed their instructions you would get the $2 per referral they are promising. In fact they even offer some sort of guarantee that you will make money. So I'm not saying it's impossible to make money with this. Of course not, you can make money with Affiliano the same as you can make money with any scheme legit or not, shady or otherwise.
At least Affiliano isn't like the Google Kit where you get unexpected charges. With Affiliano you know about the Hostgater fees before joining. I don't believe there will be any unexpected fees or charges with Affiliano. I'm just really angry that they think they can pull the wool over people's eyes on this.
