Working From Home
Working from home has its advantages and disadvantages. I personally prefer working from home, but there are people out there who don't like it.
This is normally because they find it hard to shut off. Going to a certain place to work (an office or a shop etc) for some people is a mentally focusing thing. When they are at work they focus on work. When they go home they turn off and relax. For some, working from home makes this impossible. They feel as though they are at work 24 hours a day with no escape. For people like this, working from home is not a good idea.
Another negative thing about working from home is their are too many distractions. It's far too easy to take a nap or waste time doing other things that need to be done around the house. For some people working from home means accomplishing little or no work at all, and hence they need to move their work or office to a location away from home.
However, for me personally, working from home is the most enjoyable work I've ever done. There is no commute for starters, so that is 1-2 hours per day that isn't wasted in the car or on public transportation. Further, working from home means you don't waste any money on the commute either.
If you are self-employed, then working from home opens up a large amount of overhead savings and even tax benefits. If you have one room in your house acting as your workshop or office, then you (in many countries) are entitled to write off a certain percentage of your household bills (ie rent, electricity, telephone etc). This brings down your net profits and in turn your tax, saving you money. Further, by working from home you aren't paying those bills elsewhere which can amount to a huge savings.
If you work from home and you happen to have a bad month in business, then it isn't so stressful. Working from home normally means lower overheads which makes it much easier to weather the storms that inevitably come from being in business.
I have had a few different businesses over the years, and the worst one was a retail store, whereas the best was one working from home. Therefore, I am now committed to never having a premesis again. I will keep it simple and always try to work from home.
With the internet and so many online business opportunities out there, working from home is becoming more and more common. Many people start working from home on the side in conjunction with their full time job. Slowly but surely their home business begins to flourish and that wonderful day comes when they can quit their full time job and focus on purely working from home.
Hopefully this website opens your eyes to some of the many opportunities that are available to start working from home. This is something almost anyone can do, you just need the motivation and self discipline to do so.
